King-Morgridge Scholar and Project Malawi President Lusayo Mwakatika will give a graduation speech at Saturday’s spring commencement. You can tune into Lusayo’s speech on graduation day, here. The undergraduate ceremony will begin Saturday, May 8, at 12pm CST.
In addition to being the outgoing president of Project Malawi, a UW student organization, Lusayo has been critical in establishing an IIP internship with the non-profit 
organization ACADES. Read more about the Associated Center for Agro-based Development (ACADES) and its partnership with IIP in a recent Badger Herald article. After graduating, Lusayo plans to return to his home country of Malawi, where he will work with ACADES.
Project Malawi is currently holding a fundraiser, called Malawi Market, to support the work of ACADES. Proceeds will provide small loans to Malawian youth farmers and training on the best methods of farming. To learn more or participate, visit the Malawi Market site.
