This semester has presented us all with uncertainties and new situations. For both IIP and IAP it has meant making the hard decision to suspend spring and summer programs in order to keep students safe. (See Dean Guido Podesta’s message to students.) When our students set out for their internships around the world, they never expected to return home early.
With an unprecedented spring semester wrapped up, we want to showcase our students’ strength, reslience, and perserverance both navigating their international internship experience and a global pandemic. This week, in conjuntion with International Academic Programs, we’ll be sharing reflections from UW students who were abroad this semester including two of our own international interns.
This was not the intern or study abroad experience that any of our students expected, and we recognize that many faced challenges and circumstances that were never anticipated. We also want to share resources for these students to help process their experiences and help connect with campus support staff: studyabroad.wisc.edu/returned-student-resources
