Scholarships are available through various organizations, foundations, and companies to help support students seeking experience abroad. Many “study abroad” scholarships will apply to interning abroad as well, as long as you receive academic credit through your university. Please contact IIP if you need documentation support for a scholarship application.

Ashley Soule Conroy Foundation
Scholarship for undergraduate students at a U.S. institution doing a semester abroad who have completed at least one year, have a 2.75 GPA, and financial need. Apply by December 1 for spring and July 1 for fall semester. More details.
Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship (Pell Grant recipients)
For U.S. citizens receiving a federal Pell Grant participating on for-credit programs abroad of at least four weeks. More details.
Boren Awards
For U.S. citizen undergraduates studying less commonly taught languages in world regions critical to U.S. interests, but underrepresented in study abroad (e.g. Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America and the Middle East). For semester, summer or year programs. More details.
Bridging Scholarship (Japan)
Scholarships for U.S. citizen undergraduate students studying in Japan for at least 3 months for credit. More details.
DAAD Undergraduate Scholarship (Germany)
For undergraduate students at U.S. institutions who will spend 4-10 months in Germany for study, research or internship during their third or fourth year of study. More details.
Diversity Abroad Scholarships
Diversity Abroad has scholarship partnerships with various programs (such as FIE in London) as well as a planning scholarship and their Overseas Ambassador Scholarship. Economically disadvantaged students, first generation, students with disabilities, and ethnic and racially diverse students are encouraged to apply. Search their listings for more.
Freeman Asia
Provides scholarships for study in East or Southeast Asia to U.S. citizen undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need. More details.
Fund for Education Abroad Scholarship
Funding for undergraduate U.S. citizens and permanent residents with financial need doing for-credit study abroad of at least four weeks. More details.
Go Overseas Study & Intern Abroad Scholarship
$500 for any student at a U.S. institution planning to study or intern abroad. Apply by submitting a creative photo and short essay. Note that for summer you must apply the September before. More details.
InterExchange Christianson Grant
Awarded to young U.S. citizens or permanent residents arranging their own service projects abroad (not-for-credit) of at least six months in length. This can be for post-graduate opportunities. More details.
Intern & Volunteer Abroad Scholarship Essay Contest
Submit a short essay to be considered for $500 toward your intern or volunteer abroad program. Apply the December before for summer. More details.
Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Scholarship
Scholarships for undergraduates with a 3.75 or higher GPA at an institution with a Phi Kappa Phi chapter. More details.
Rotary Club Scholarships
Many Rotary Clubs offer scholarships to support secondary, undergraduate or graduate study. Contact local chapters for more information. More details.
Scott's Cheap Flights Study Abroad Scholarship
$1000 for a U.S. citizen or permanent resident studying abroad (higher education program for credit) in semester or summer. More details.
ThinkSwiss Research Scholarships (Switzerland)
Support for undergraduate or graduate students doing research at a public Swiss university or research institute for 2 to 3 months. Apply in January for summer. More details.
