DC SEMESTER: SEMINAR

During the semester, students will be expected to attend a bi-weekly seminar. The range of topics will include international health, security, women’s rights, human rights, international development, globalization, international trade, to global governance. Speakers will include UW-Madison alumni and other experts working in professional, academic and diplomatic fields related to international affairs.

 Speakers have included:

  • Ambassador John Lange who discussed the expanding role of international health in public affairs.
  • Ambassador John Campbell on Nigeria
  • Ambassador Charlene Barshefsky who presented a mini-seminar on a number of related topics, including global growth, global economic integration, the growth of China, and US policies dealing with these changes

In addition to seminars, students also participate in several field trips throughout the program to such sites as the U.S. Capitol, the Department of State, and various embassies in Washington, DC.
