International Internship: Organizations
![]()
The International Internship Program at the UW-Madison aims to develop a global talent pool to serve the needs of state/national/international employers. The program assists students interested in overseas or internationally-focused work opportunities, paid and unpaid, by developing & promoting internship opportunities, placing students in the internships, and preparing them for the experience. It is the place for employers to come to find students with global skills such as foreign language proficiency, cross-cultural communication skills, and an understanding of the global economy and international standards in addition to their discipline-specific expertise.
DIP INTO THE GLOBAL TALENT POOL…
We’re happy to help match UW – Madison students with organizations that will:
- Provide opportunities for meaningful work experience and appropriate guidance contributing to the professional development of the intern;
- Assist the intern in increasing his/her understanding of the host country’s culture;
- Help arrange the student’s work permit/visa;
- Complete and return a performance evaluation for the intern.
Flexibility and professionalism to meet your business needs
We are developing and expanding international internship opportunities for select UW-Madison students from all academic disciplines. In addition to recruiting qualified students, we are actively recruiting companies and organizations able to offer substantive professional-track internships in the international sphere with placements either in the U.S. or abroad.
Internship options are flexible! Summer internships are most common, but semester or full year positions are also possible. Remuneration packages can vary, but we ask that you provide some form of compensation to interns wherever possible (e.g., salary, stipend, housing, and/or travel assistance). Some internships require students enroll for academic credit, others do not. The choice is yours, based on your organization’s needs.
The International Internship Program staff works with you to customize the internship to your needs. We can help define the internship position, and assist in managing the recruiting and placement process logistics. Contact us today!
