Partnership for Global Talent Funding
The International Internship Program (IIP) at UW-Madison teamed up with the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) to provide SEED FUNDING to help small-and medium-sized Wisconsin companies invest in developing global talent as part of their international business initiatives.
Are you headed in the right direction? Today’s working world is much more global than 20 years ago. However, according to a recent Next Generation Manufacturing survey, only 18% of Wisconsin companies rate their progress toward global engagement as good or world-class. Hiring interns for a position abroad or for an internationally focused project helps undergraduates develop intercultural professional skills, knowledge and attitudes, allowing these future Wisconsin workers to thrive in a the globalized workplace. By hosting an intern from UW-Madison, your company can be a leader in developing Wisconsin’s global talent and enjoy the success of being able to work across geographic and cultural boundaries. This grant will provide up to $4,000 in matching funds to help offset costs associated with hiring an intern. IIP helps companies identify candidates, but the selection of your intern is up to you. IIP supports students with internship advising, academic coursework and logistics related to overseas assignments. Imagine the potential!
This program was offered for 2015 and 2016 interns and now has concluded.
